Pre-Construction
Presale is the process of purchasing homes prior
to construction. This has many advantages for
the home buyer including customization, choice
of upgrades and the ability to purchase a home
at introductory pricing which may appreciate
significantly at completion.
At
one point (2007/2008) developers were envisioning
over 40 new condomimum and loft projects over
the next ten years adding upwards of 10,000
+ new residential units to the city's core districts
(downtown, Midtown, Belltown, South Lake Union
& Denny Triangle). As a result, buyers and
investors have numerous opportunities to get
in on the ground floor. Unfotunately, the financial
meltdown and slow NW economy has halt many of
the project.
A
few developers are prepping for the next development
cycle, which is projected to start in the tail
end of 2010 or 2011. Once the Alex and Escala
completes construction this year, we're not
likely to see another condo development complete
for at least two years.
